FACE IT SUPPORTED
London businesswomen are holding a night of wine and food to support a free in-home breast cancer treatment program.
Susan Regier, of Vantage One Writing, and Nancy Kirwin from Townsend Farmers' Mutual Insurance are hosting A Night of Wine, Jazz & Reality at the Carolinian Winery in support of the Face It program.
The program sees Annette Richard, a general practitioner, and nurse Johanne Nichols go into patients' homes after they are released from hospital for follow-up care and support after the patient has had breast cancer treatment.
"Today, lumpectomy or mastectomy surgery is considered day surgery, so patients are sent home the same day, a daunting prospect for any patient or their loved ones," said Richard. "Getting a diagnosis of any illness is anxiety-provoking . . . We just want to fill in any gaps."
The event will be held at the Carolinian Winery on June 12 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The Face It team travels to patients' homes throughout Southwestern Ontario. Face It relies solely on private donations.
Tickets are $35 each or two for $60 and are available by calling Susan Regier at 519-471-8726 or Nancy Kirwin at 519-423-6822. For more information go to www.faceitlondon.com
